Winter Fair

A warm festive welcome awaits you at this year's nineteenth Royal Welsh Winter Fair which prides itself on being one of the best primestock events in the UK; although the Fair has something to offer everyone. The main attraction for the event is, of course, the tremendous display of livestock, with an average of 1400 entries in both the livestock and equine competitions, showing off the best of British farming. The event culminates with the sale of stock on Tuesday and the sale of pigs is to be re-introduced. The result of which are keenly awaited as the record was set last year for the supreme champion beast, a Limousin-Belgian Blue steer, which was sold of £12,500.

There will be an excellent poultry show on Tuesday with a display of 1,000 birds and on the Monday only the splendid sight of the hound show. The Farriery team will provide demonstrations over the two days of this traditional skill which is still very much in demand.

The Produce and Handicraft section will include an array of artistic workmanship and mouth watering confectionery exhibits, also staged in the South Glamorgan Exhibition Hall will be some ninety outstanding floral art displays, both modern and traditional, ranging from Christmas door decorations to fabulous floral interpretations of 'Peace and Goodwill'.

There will be a programme of floral demonstrations staged in the comfort of the International Pavilion and the fashion shows have returned and will be provided by Initial A, Builth Wells, with a selection of clothing including a range for the party season; where you will be welcomed with a free glass of mulled wine and a mince pie! The Young Farmers' Clubs will also be competing to decorate a Christmas tree. So there will be plenty of ideas for you to make this Christmas special at an affordable price.

no dogs allowedOther than Guide Dogs, visitors are encouraged not to bring their dogs to the Winter Fair, but if it is essential to do so dogs must be kept on a lead the whole time and are restricted from entering the buildings.
